About bytEM

bytEM is an open-source, self-hostable platform for indexing and exchanging data, built on the Matrix open chat protocol by Liberbyte GmbH. This page lists every data entity the market knows about. Searching it needs no account.

What is a DEID?

Every entry has a Data Entity Identifier (DEID): a permanent URL owned by the publishing domain. Fetching it returns JSON describing the entity, including its class, schema, label, location and references. Separate bytEM instances can discover each other's entries through these identifiers.

How do I get the data?

Open an entry and request it. The data arrives in a demand room, a Matrix room of your own. A free Matrix guest identity is created in one click, or you can use an existing account on any federating homeserver. How bytEM works explains each step.

What does the 0–100 score mean?

The score rates the underlying source, such as a municipal drinking-water report. bytEM produces it, not the publisher. An entry without a score was either not assessed yet, or its source was unavailable or could not be read.

Is there an API?

Yes. A JSON summary lists the search and DEID endpoints, and an agent guide explains how to use them. API summary · Agent guide · Questions: info@liberbyte.com
